The Office Essentials

Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations.  These are the essential software packages that most of us work with daily.  Many schools now teach classes in these types of programs, but they usually stop at the basics.  We can not only teach you the basics, but we can take that knowledge and build upon it, making you an office suite expert.

To introduce you to the competing office suites, we offer a one-hour seminar entitled Which Office Solution is for You? on a regular basis, or you can view this presentation on-line.

Microsoft Office

The world’s leader.  We offer Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced courses in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, and Access.

OpenOffice.org and StarOffice

The open source alternatives to MS-Office, OpenOffice.org is the truly open-source project, while StarOffice is a product provided by Sun. (StarOffice comes boxed up as a commercial package.) We offer Basic/Intermediate/Advanced courses in Writer, Calculator, and Impress, the word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation packages in the suite.

How do we teach Office Suites?

We offer three levels of instruction for each application in the suites:

101 Courses - Introductory Level

In the introductory classes, we start at the beginning with each application.  Creating a basic document or worksheet or presentation. Editing and Saving.  Printing. Practice and drills. Six hours instruction time.

201 Courses - Mid-Level Experience

Designed for those who use a particular Office program one or more hours daily.  Building on basic knowledge, the user learns to expand their use of the program by learning new features and techniques.  Four hours instruction time.

301 Courses - Power Users

Designed for those who use an Office program more than three hours daily.  Users at this level often require advanced skills such as macro design, or other features the casual user will never get to.  Four hours instruction time.
